Some crystals stop you in your tracks… this is one of them.
This newly acquired 134 gram, 9.5 cm smoky amethyst from the legendary Streep Mine, Goboboseb Mountains, Namibia is everything I could hope for in a collector specimen. An elegant crystal with exceptional luster, deep smoky saturation melting into rich amethyst, and one of the most incredible features I’ve seen—a massive enhydro preserved inside the crystal, carrying ancient water that has remained trapped for millions of years.
Adding even more character are the vibrant red hematite flake inclusions, suspended throughout the crystal like glowing embers frozen in time. Together they create an extraordinary contrast against the glassy purple interior, making every angle reveal something new.
Specimens combining this size, aesthetics, crystal quality, a giant enhydro, and striking hematite inclusions are exceptionally difficult to find. This is the kind of piece that reminds me why the search never ends.
A true masterpiece of nature… and one I’ll proudly keep in the personal collection.
