Minerva No. 1 at its absolute finest.
This incredible fluorite from the legendary Minerva No. 1 Mine is absolutely loaded with color. Deep royal purple saturation is set ablaze by glowing amber-orange flashes, while natural bitumen creates a dramatic mosaic of cubic textures across the crystal faces.
Hold it to the light and the specimen comes alive. Rich violet edges frame a fiery interior, revealing the classic color zoning that has made Minerva No. 1 one of the most celebrated fluorite localities in the world. The combination of exceptional transparency, glassy luster, and preserved bitumen gives this piece incredible depth and character.
These old Minerva No. 1 specimens aren’t just beautiful—they’re a piece of Illinois mining history. Finding examples with this much saturation, contrast, and visual impact is becoming increasingly rare.
