An epic and incredibly gemmy Rhodonite from Morro da Mina, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais, Brazil — with intensely saturated cherry-red crystals bursting dramatically from the matrix.

The color is outrageous. Rich crimson-red crystals with incredible translucency catch the light and light up from within, while the contrasting matrix gives the specimen amazing depth, texture and presence.

I especially love pieces like this where the Rhodonite is still naturally perched in matrix — you get the gemminess and killer color of the crystals while preserving the geology exactly as nature created it.
