Illinois blurple perfection…
A beautiful translucent Fluorite with Calcite from the legendary Minerva Mine No. 1 in Hardin County, Illinois — one of the most iconic fluorite localities ever discovered. This piece shows that classic Illinois color play collectors chase so hard… icy blue edges wrapping around rich lavender-purple zoning with unreal glow and transparency when backlit.
The stepped phantom-like internal structure and soft pastel saturation give it that unmistakable Minerva character, while the perched calcite crystals add the perfect natural contrast and balance to the composition.
Pieces from Minerva No. 1 helped define what world-class American fluorite looks like, and fine examples with this much color and light transmission continue to get harder to source every year.
Provenance: ex. Alan Jenkins collection.
Classic Illinois magic in the palm of your hand.
